Cute Homemade Cookie Monster Cake for a 1 Year Old

I had to make this Cookie Monster cake for my nephew’s son who was turning one. His favorite is Cookie Monster so I found a coloring page and free hand drew the image onto a piece of wax paper.

I used piping gel and transferred the image onto the cake. Piped the outline, filled in the mouth. Filled it in with tip 18 pull out stars, piped the message. I stuck smaller cookies all around the side of the cake for the border and one broken cookie near Cookie’s mouth. I piped the outline of his hand over the cookie and sprinkled cookie crumbs around his mouth to make it looked like he was eating it.

The cake is a from scratch chocolate 9×13 inch. One layer cut horizontally and filled with chocolate cream filling. The cookies fit better on the sides that way because the cake was high enough.

Dylan loved it!
