Homemade Crying Baby Cake

I made this crying baby cake for a co-worker. Some long term houseguests have added a baby to her house, and we have been joking that she's a grandma now. Any excuse for cake right?

I used a French Vanilla cake mix and baked it in two 9 inch round pans. The "head" I didn't alter at all, took it from the pan and used it as is. On the second cake I cut a small semi circle out of the top to nestle the "head" into, and carved it into a slight oval shape with some definition for the arms.

For the skin tone I mixed three drops of red food coloring, and one drop of yellow into a standard tub of white frosting. I frosted the entire cake with the skin tone, then used plain white frosting to put on a diaper. I piped black frosting to outline and define the diaper, feet and arms, then gave it a big crying mouth and scrunched up eyes.

This cake was a big hit at my office!
