Homemade Curious George Birthday Cake
I made this Homemade Curious George Birthday Cake for my grandson's first birthday. He was fascinated by Curious George on TV. I used a combination of designs from cakes on the Coolest Cake website. It was my first attempt at using fondant. I had always used icing with decorative tips. The fondant is so much easier to work with and less messy!
The cakes used were plain white cakes with butter cream icing used as the glue for the fondant. I colored my own fondant, but then resorted to buying the pre-made colored fondant because the colors were rich, dark and easier to use. The cake was 6 batches of cake mix. Next, I am tackling a Thomas the Train Cake for birthday number 2!
