Cool Homemade 3-Tier Daisy Cake

This was actually a bridal shower cake, but it could also be for a birthday. It was my fourth fondant cake. It was for my best friend’s sister. She’s not a very “frilly” kind of girl, so we wanted something girly, but simple.

The flower cake is a butter recipe with homemade buttercream icing. Each tier is made with four thin layers, as opposed to my usual two. I wanted to be sure that there was enough icing evenly distributed through each slice for those who don’t eat the fondant. Also, because my friend loves buttercream!

The cake is pretty self explanatory and simple to construct. I covered each tier individually with fondant, added dowels, and stacked them. I used a cookie cutter for the polka dots. I used various colored balls for detail and a simple little bow on both the front and back.

The cake was a hit. She told me that everyone at the shower not only loved the appearance of the cake, it was tasty as well!! I can’t wait to make my next one.
