Homemade Darth Maul Cake
This Darth Maul Cake was for my son's 5th birthday party. I found a picture of Darth Maul online, printed it and used an opaque projector to enlarge it. Then I traced the outline of the image onto wax paper and used gel icing on the reverse to go over the trace lines. I put a crumb coat of white icing on the cake, then put it in the freezer for about 30 min. After another coat of white icing, I put it back in the freezer for another half hour.
Then, I placed my wax paper, gel side down, onto the cake to transfer the image. Make sure you run your finger lightly around the lines for a good transfer. From there, it's pretty much like paint-by-numbers. I used pretinted canned red & black icing squirted into a piping bag to fill it in. Yellow on the eyes added that super spooky touch! This cake is a 14" round, boxed cake with Classic White icing right out of the can.
