Homemade Deer Cake

I made this Deer with Antlers cake for my brother's 60th birthday. He is a hunter and avid outdoors man and I thought this deer cake would be perfect.

I made the antler frame out of copper wire and covered them with fondant, decorated with chocolate buttercream icing. I made holes in the tips to hold the birthday candles. The deer head was shaped out of rice krispies and frosted with chocolate and white buttercream. The ears were formed with a u shaped copper wire and the entire head was supported with a cake board cut the exact size of the head. The eyes were Whopper candies.

The sheet cake was a Cream Cheese Pound cake iced with buttercream icing. I made this cake with a 10x13 pan and next time I will do a quarter sheet pan to have more room to do the writing. Also I might use a fondant banner and write the name and Happy Birthday on it.

Needless to say, it was a big hit with everyone, especially the men.

How did you get the rice krispies to stay together?
by: Jeanie

I like your deer head cake and need to make a grooms cake with a deer head. How do the rice krispies stay together? Did you mix marshmallow creme with them? Thanks,
