Dinosaur Cake

Dinosaur Cake

I made this Dinosaur cake for my daughter's 3rd birthday, as she is totally dinosaur mad! I made this cake, from a lemon drizzle cake mix. I think it was a Jane Asher cake mix. I used two shallow, round cake tins. Then when cooked, I added extra lemon juice to the sponge once cooled.

I cut out the shapes and rearranged them to make the T Rex shape. I dyed the butter icing green. Once the cake was iced, I sprinkled pink sugar crystals all over the cake.

The T Rex's spikes are made from "Tootie Fruities". I aloud the icing to set off before adding the sweets to the dinosaur's spine, at a diagonal angle. The sweets are too heavy to insert when the icing is wet. I used "Jelly Tots" to give the dinosaur it's spots.

I used a writing set from Asda, to pipe the dinosaurs mouth, eye and number three. I used a pink sugar ball for the center of the dinosaurs' eye.
