Homemade Dinosaur Cake

My son loves dinosaurs. He wanted a dinosaur cake and he wanted a volcano. So for his 7th birthday I made him just that.

I made the bottom part with yellow pound cake and the dinosaur and volcano chocolate cake. It was very easy to make. For the dinosaur I baked a small round cake pan and one heart shaped pan. I cut the round cake in half and sandwiched it together with icing. Then cut the heart shaped cake in the middle to make the head. The rest I used for the tail. For the volcano I used a Pyrex bowl.

After setting everything on the big cake I just made some butter cream icing and iced the cake. I used the star tip for the dinosaur.I got the recipe for the butter cream icing from this web site. I found so many ideas on this web site.

The cake was a big hit. Everybody loved it. Plus this is the second time I make a cake for my kids birthday, and it turned out lovely.
