Homemade Dinosaur Cake

I made this dinosaur cake for my son's 4th birthday as he was mad about dinosaurs and this was this cake was the highlight of my dinosaur themed party.

I was very pleased with how this turned out, although its far from perfect its very effective and its actually really simple to make.

I used a simple round sponge cut in half and stuck together to make the body. I used a second round sponge to cut a tail shape and the head and the legs. I covered the whole thing with green fondant which was again really easy as because it was a dinosaur a few bumps in the icing just added to the overall effect.

The whole thing is finished off with the all important details. I have used fondant in different colours to cut out shapes for the claws, teeth and spikes with little balls for the eyes and the nostrils.
