Homemade Dinosaur Stegosaurus Cake

This Dinosaur Stegosaurus cake is a double layer cake so you would either need to double a cake recipe for 2 9x13's or buy two cake mixes. The cake was made from a store-bought cake pan.

Once they cooled, stack on top of each other. Instead of trying to get the proper brown color, I just used Duncan Hines chocolate icing for the middle layer as well as the sides. The top and colorful icing were made from a buttercream icing and then dyed the colors my son wanted for his dinosaur. I used a star tip for the dinosaur and edging.

The rest I just smoothed with a knife to make the scales and legs kind of bumpy/realistic. We sure thought it was cute!
