Awesome Homemade Disney Princess Castle Cake Using the Wilton Romantic Castle Cake Set

My 3 year old wanted a Disney princess party. I looked for ideas on this website and seen this Disney Princess Castle Cake. I bought the romantic castle cake kit from Walmart for $18 and my mom and I took on the challenge!

The towers, windows, door and roof come in the kit. In addition to the kit we bought the already colored fondant for the flowers and leaves. We also had to purchase the Wilton flower making kit. The grass is coconut colored green and the pathway is brown sugar. My daughter already had the Cinderella carriage and we bought the other princess figures from party city and I also seen them at toys r us.

After baking and icing the cakes it took us about 7 hours to decorate the cake. Once the cake is put together I don’t recommend moving it. The top towers are not very sturdy. To make the towers sturdier we actually drilled a hole in the bottom of them and put about an inch of a doll rod into the bottom of the tower and then put the tower in the cake.

This cake is a lot of work but it was worth the smile on my little girls face!
