Homemade Dog Birthday Cake

I made this dog birthday cake for my daughter's first birthday. She really loves our Miniature Schnauzer named Bennett- so I decided to make a cake resembling our dog.

I made the cake, frosted it and froze it weeks before her birthday. I wouldn't recommend doing that- once the cake thawed out the frosting became very wet. For cake portion- I used a Pyrex measuring cup for the head, a regular meatloaf pan for the body and 4 mini-loaf pans for the legs. For the ears I cut triangles from a Styrofoam cup and then decorated them with frosting.

I used bubble tape for the tongue, fruit by the foot for the collar, and for the tail I used a #1 candle. I used scrapbooking paper and stickers to make the sign. I also used stickers on Bennett's collar. I used frosting to make the clasp on the collar. I thought using stickers was a better option for me since writing with frosting is not my forte.

It was a lot of fun to make and my daughter loved it.
