Homemade Dog Birthday Cake

I used a Wilton lamb cake pan to make this Dog Birthday Cake. I made a chocolate Duncan Hines cake mix and used homemade buttercream frosting to decorate it. I used a star tip for all the fur, and melted chocolate for his eyes, nose and mouth.

Scout is a Maltese mix. I think I captured what he looks like fairly well. Scout will be four this year. I'm going to make him a cake, but it won't be like this one. I did have fun making this cake. Instructions for baking with a molded cake pan are included when you buy it, but I will say it's best to really coat the pan well with non-stick spray so the cake won't stick.

I have 31 years experience in cake decorating, but you don't have to be as well trained to do a cake like this one. Using the star tip makes it easy. I hope you like my cake.
