Homemade Dog Bowl Cake

Homemade Dog Bowl Cake

I used 2 9 inch round cake pans and baked a boxed confetti cake. After they both cooled, I took one of the rounds and set it upside down on the cake platter and iced the top, then I took the other round and cut a whole in the center leaving about 2 inches all around, then placed it on top of the other cake.

I used canned buttercream icing and using blue food coloring, got it to the "blue" color that I wanted. I iced the Dog Bowl Cake all up. The dog food is the fun part. The night before I had made a devils food cake. Once the cake was cool I broke it up into pieces and then took 1/2 can of chocolate icing and rolled them into tiny balls, then placed them in the freezer for about 30 minutes. I melted some chocolate (got the melting chocolate at hobby lobby), rolled the balls through the chocolate and let them cool.

I made her name, the dog poo and bone with homemade fondant (won't be doing that again anytime soon - I'll buy store bought fondant!
