Fancy Nancy Dog Cake

My daughter loves Fancy Nancy and dogs so I thought I would make her a dog cake of the stuffed dog from Fancy Nancy and the Posh puppy. It was a big hit! I made a yellow butter cake from scratch and also a buttercream frosting. I bought the fondant and spray painted it(food coloring spray of course).

I used rice crispy treats for the front paws, head and ears. My husband helped sculpt the nose, eyes, bone, and #2 out of fondant. The cake is four layers sculpted into the shape of the body and the hind legs. The tail is made from fondant wrapped around floral wire.

I hand painted anything black that you see, which actually didn't dry all the way and got smudged in the morning from little hands as you can see on the ear. This was a really fun cake to make and fun to eat too!
