Coolest Dog Cake 40

Dog Cake

It was coming up to my 29th birthday and my 3 year old wanted me to make a cake! We searched the internet for cakes and we came across Spot the Dog! She insisted I make a Spot the Dog Cake! I copied the picture and free hand a copy onto some baking paper. I then cut the copy out. I baked a plain vanilla cake in a rectangle slab tin.

After the cake cooled I placed the traced copy cut out onto the slab and cut around it. I made some butter icing using 125g butter, 1 1/2cups icing sugar and 2 tablespoons milk. I divided the icing into 3 sections and coloured as required - blue for the present, tan for SPOT and brown for the outline.

I iced the present first then the body followed by the piped brown outline and eyes, tail and large SPOT on the body. I used a marshmallow cut in half for the mouth. I put some smarties onto the present to make it look pretty!

My daughter loved the cake and especially loved eating the left over smarties!
