Homemade Dots And Stripes Birthday Cake

This Dots And Stripes Birthday Cake was for a little girl's 7th Birthday party. She wanted something girlie, but not too little girlish. I used two six inch cake pans for the top layer and two ten inch cake pans for the bottom layer.

I covered both layers in white fondant and then cut out different sizes and shades of pink and purple stripes and dots. I put the different sized stripes on the top layer first, starting from the center of the cake. Next, I covered the meeting point of all of the stripes with the fondant star and the number seven. I then randomly placed the different sized dots onto the bottom layer.

The bow and the balls around the cake are made out of fondant as well. I used cookie cutters to make the letters out of fondant and then I added fondant accents to each one following the stripes and dots theme. I covered the cake board in dotted tissue paper.
