Homemade Duckie Birthday Cake
I made this homemade duckie birthday cake for a friend's rubber duckie themed baby shower. I used the Wilton 3D duck pan along with the 14" round cake pan. I made the duck with a white cake mix and the 14" round with a chocolate cake mix.
I used tinted yellow and blue buttercream icing. I dipped my icing spatula to get the smooth appearance for the water and tapped the end of the spatula on the duck to get the texture. For the bubbles I used royal icing and made a Hershey kiss shape and smoothed it round with my finger dipped in cold water.
The squiggly eyes I bought at Hobby Lobby. The top of the 14" cake cracked in some places when I hit some bumps on the way to the shower but it still turned out cute and was a big hit, this was the first cake I had ever made. I got the idea from a picture on this website and decided to recreate it!
