Homemade Ducky Pond Cake
I was requested to make a number one birthday cake for my friend’s daughter’s first birthday party. They were also making a rubber ducky cake (as per the birthday girl’s current favourite toy) so I thought I’d keep it in the theme and made a pond.
I bought the little duckies on eBay and I got the pond idea on here from some of the frog cakes I looked at. The lily pads are just white chocolate with a bit of green food colouring and the rushes are just toothpicks I dyed (soaked in diluted food colouring) and then rolled the tips in dark chocolate. The icing is just buttermilk tinted with blue. The pebbles around the edges are crispy m&ms.
To make the number one shape I used a square cake cut in half and laid end to end, and I made another loaf cake to cut up for the base and point.
