Homemade Elmo Birthday Cake

I made a 14 inch 2 layer round cake and covered it with fondant. I baked the Elmo in an Elmo shaped pan from bulk barn and covered it in icing made from a cup of butter and a bag of icing sugar.

I used a 1oz bottle of Wilton red food colouring gel and also a bit of orange for his nose. I then put Elmo on top of the cake. I used Elmo shaped candies. Balloons are from fondant and the writing and Elmo's mouth is filled using store bought chocolate glaze.

I was inspired by the Wilton website and also wanted to use fondant so badly but no one liked the taste of the fondant so next time I'll stick to icing.
