Homemade Elmo Cake

My younger son was a HUGE Elmo fan when he was little. He didn't grow out of it untill he was nearly 5. For his 3rd Birthday, I threw him an Elmo themed party and I made this Elmo cake myself.

I bought the Elmo-head cake pan off EBay and used 1 pkg of white cake mix. Shaved the top of the cake flat because it was actually the bottom of the cake.

Turned it out of the pan when cooled and let it sit overnight. Made bright RED and ORANGE frosting out of white frosting and food coloring. Used black writing icing to draw mouth and center of eyes.

This was my first "do it yourself" themed cake and I was very happy with it. Got tons of compliments on look and taste of this sweet treat.
