As you can see this Fairy Cake Idea was my first foray into making flowers and mixing colours! Fortunately my niece thought it magical. She wanted fairies and Unicorns, I found several colouring books that had the subjects in them. I also can NOT draw, so I traced using tracing paper, transferred on to water colour paper (craft store) and use water colour pencils to colour. Then went over them with a wet paint brush – sounds complicated, but it really wasn’t.
If I combined all the time it took to draw, colour, and glue them to bamboo skewers – took about an hour. I used some cool paper for the wings. My niece wanted something different than a “flat” cake – so being a cheap aunt that I am, I covered/camouflaged bean cans with painted paper.
There really wasn’t a good place to put her name, so I just did the flying fairies.
