Homemade Fairy Castle Cake

Homemade Fairy Castle Cake

I made this for my daughter's 9th Birthday - she was big into fairies! This was a large tall cake that I made in sponge. The pillars were made by stacking sponge discs onto each other over wooden BBQ skewers and ice cram cones for the towers dusted blue. I added flags to the tops but not shown here !

The best part of this homemade fairy castle cake was the musical element !! I ripped open an old jewelery box with a fairy that played swan lake. I built this inside the cake and if you look at the castle door I made this the winder. A few turns and the fairy on top spun round and played swan lake from inside the fairy castle cake (I mounted the mechanism inside a plastic box first).... I was pleased with the result and so was my daughter and all her friends !
