Homemade Fairy Princess Cake

I wanted to try the princess/doll cake but was tired of seeing the old style and wanted to modernize it a bit. For this, I decided to make lolly cake because it was easy to mould and the kids love it.

I moulded the skirt with the lolly cake mixture, stuck the doll in the top, then used royal white icing to lay out the dress. It was looking a bit like a wedding dress instead of a 2yr old's birthday cake, so I found a bit of ribbon to tie around the middle to break the white. I then added "fairy-wings" - a butterfly I found at the florist that had two little wires attached to it for use in floral arrangements!

Marshmallows all around to create a "walking in the cloud" effect and ta-dah! One very pretty and modern homemade fairy princess cake!
