Homemade Farm Combine Cake
This Farm Combine Cake was made for my farm loving son's 3rd birthday. We already did the tractor cake for a previous birthday so I had to come up with something different and he wanted a combine cake. I looked all over internet trying to find a picture to go off of but could not find a single one. I used his toy combine to get the shape as close as possible and this is what I ended up with.
I made this cake using a 9 x 13 cake. To hold up the back end of the combine I constructed a platform with wire (actually a wire clothes hanger) and cardboard covered in wax paper. From there I cut the cake to get the basic shape of the combine. For frosting I used tube frosting, which I would not do again because it didn't want to hold together well which is why I did not get a smooth finish.
The wheels were made by forming rice crispy treats. For a first attempt at making a combine with nothing to go off of I thought it turned out alright. My son loved it and that's all that mattered!
