Homemade Farmyard and Barn Cake
I made this homemade farmyard and barn cake for my friends son's 1st birthday. Its a chocolate mud cake with chocolate ganache and fondant icing. The barn is cake covered fondant. The birthday coincided with Easter so I included some Easter chicks in the scene. I also included the family cat and birthday boys big brother.
The animals are all made from fondant. This was my second attempt at cake making and I was worried I had bitten off more than I could chew!!! I was able to make the fondant figures in the week leading up to the birthday so in the last 24 hrs I baked the cake, covered it in ganache, iced it and decorated with the fence (made from chocolate fondant). I then made the barn and added the pre-made horse head, mouse, sheep pigs etc.
Over all I'm pretty happy with it.
