My son wanted a chocolate cake for his ‘turning 2 cake.’ So my son and daughter and I sat down and drew up our Farmyard Birthday Cake idea. Tractors area huge part of my son’s life (we live on 165 acres of agricultural land and huge corn/pumpkin/cattle farm across the street.)
The tractor was purchased and while on the website the candles were found the barn, cow, chick, etc. My kids chose the placement of each candle after I drew the plans and when the cake was cooled we realized that we needed a flat place to write Happy Birthday.
I cut the lower right side and used the excess cake to build up the right side if the cake to make a better field. The icing was rather easy to spread on and once the first layer was on everything quickly came together. The dirt behind the tractor is crushed Oreo cookies.
The part that pulled it all together was the placement of the overgrown grass. As you can see from the photo it makes the cake!
