Father's Day Shirt And Tie Cake

Father's Day Shirt And Tie Cake

I made this father's day shirt and tie cake using instructions from the Wilton site. The cake itself is a 9x13 cake, covered in buttercream frosting. I then used purchased fondant to cover the shirt.

I downloaded templates from the Wilton site to use for the necktie and collar. The tie was supposed to be striped, but I opted for the easy route and just did a solid color. I tinted the purchased white fondant light blue for the tie.

The collar was really easy to do, but it didn't stay up well on its own for too long. I would recommend using a thin piece of cardboard underneath for stability. The pocket posed no problems. The most difficult aspect of this was rolling out the fondant, piecing the accessories together was actually quite easy.

Overall a very simple cake to make and a crowd pleaser.
