Homemade First Birthday Rocket Cake
I made this First Birthday Rocket Cake for my son's first birthday. I layered two half sheet cakes and then cut them into the shape of a rocket. I made the icing myself using Wilton colors. I used a star tip and I piping tip to apply the icing.
For the flames coming out I used red and orange marbled fruit roll-ups that I stuck a tooth pick through and then inserted through the cake. To finish off I put a #1 candle on top.
This is the the cake that my son got to tear into for his 1st birthday. I used the Wilton ball pan. I made the icing using Wilton color and once applied I textured it by touching a spoon to the icing to give it peeks. Then I carved out a spot for the alien crater to fit and the cake was done.
