Homemade Fishbowl Birthday Cake Idea
I made this Fishbowl Birthday Cake Idea by making two round cakes. I put a layer of buttercream icing and stacked them. Put it in the fridge to set/firm. Then I trimmed the top and bottom to make flat spots, and stood it up. Then covered it in a thin layer of white buttercream icing, and put it back in the fridge to set. Once the icing was firm, I iced the whole cake blue.
I made the starfish, corals, seaweed, and little fish from Starburst candies, just use cornstarch on your fingers to keep the candy from sticking, and put on eyes with a toothpick dipped in black icing color. The bigger fish are sour 5 cent candies, and the rocks are made from Nerds candies.
The "empty" part of the bowl is white buttercream frosting piped on, then spread out and sprayed lightly with blue Wilton cake spraypaint. The rim was applied with a large piping tip.
