Cool Homemade Flip Flop Birthday Cake for a Sweet Sixteen

We threw a surprise luau party for my sister’s 16th birthday and made her this Flip Flop birthday cake.

I bought a flip flop cookie cutter and cut the flip flop shape out and then froze them to make movement easier. We then iced them and put Xtreme Sour Belt candy around the bottom for the “soles” and used a thin cut piece of the sour belt as the strap.

We smashed graham crackers for the sand and then poured the already set jello next to it to make it look like the ocean. Then, we put the flip flops on the “sand”, laid a few sour belts together as the beach towel and put a toothpick umbrella in a piece of gum so it would stand up.
