Homemade Flower Garden Cake
I made this Flower Garden Cake for my daughter's 3rd birthday cake.
It is a 1 1/2 batch butter cake tinted pink with food colouring and baked in a non-stick baking pan. I got the idea for this cake from another cake on this website (Garden 04) - thanks for the inspiration Ginger D.
I used blue and green butter icing for the background. Smarties and Coles brand chocolate beanies were used for decoration, as well as sliced marshmallows for wings, and some mini florals for the pink flowers in the bottom right corner. I piped icing for flower stems, caterpillar legs, butterfly antennae, and to fill in gaps between dragonfly wings and the smarties body.
A really easy cake. It took about 1 1/2 careful hours to ice and create the decoration. I was really happy with the end result.
