I made this Football Birthday Cake Design for my husband’s Birthday. He is a HUGE Kentucky fan, football, basketball…you name it! I started off with a homemade chocolate cake; I used a 9’’by 11’’ pan and cut to shape. I then cut the cake in half and filled with a homemade chocolate buttercream icing, and crumb coated. I topped the cake with a homemade marshmallow fondant. I separated the fondant into three segments and colored two of them brown and UK blue.
The stripes and laces were very easy to do, the UK symbol however was not. I printed the logo off of the computer twice, and started cutting shapes. I first did the white background for the logo, then cut out the U and the K. I cut really thin strips of the blue to outline the white background.
My husband was so amazed at this cake, he absolutely loved it! It took him at least an hour to cut into it!
