Cool Homemade Football Cake With Helmet and Mini Footballs

I made a football cake for my companies UT tailgate party and won first place! I made a checker board sheet cake and a four layer round checker board cake that I cut to look more like a helmet.

I put the round cakes on a cardboard circle with three cut dowel rods underneath it for support. The cakes were coconut flavored for the white part and orange for the orange part. I used coconut flavoring for the icing.

The bottom cake board I covered with orange wrapping paper and then with clear contact paper so it stays looking nice and you can wipe it off with a wet paper towel if you need to.

For the chocolate footballs I used a Jiggler mold that I had. Then for the face mask of the helmet I used fondant icing by Wilton. And for a final touch I added some orange sparkling gel to the orange icing on the helmet and on the white boarder. It was a good accent and it’s by Wilton too.

Around the base of the cake I wrote…Rocky Top…You’ll Always Be…Home Sweet Home…To Me! Go Tennessee!

  1. Leslie,

We live in Morristown also and would love to buy this cake from you for our 2 year old’s birthday party. He loves UT FOOTBALL. Are you interested?
