Homemade Football Cake

I doubled a vanilla cake recipe for this size pan for the football cake. The icing was the Wilton buttercream recipe, which was also doubled and used gel coloring to color the icing.

I drew a football on the center and used tip 21 to make the stars, the green shell border along the top and bottom was tip 31, and the laces on the football and the white border under the green shell border were tip 46. I used curly ribbon and football helmet party favors for the decorations.

The writing was done in Wilton sparkle gel and on the green shell border I sprinkled rainbow mix dessert sprinkles. It took about 30 minutes to decorate the entire cake.
