Frog Cake

Frog Cake

I was asked to make a house warming cake by a co-worker. After giving it some thought, I came up with the frog cake idea. I baked a 9x13 chocolate cake and iced it with homemade buttercream icing. I found a frog picture online and used it as a pattern.

I rolled out fondant that had been tinted the appropriate colors. After the whole frog was cut out, I cut away the pattern to get the smaller details. I used blue buttercream icing for the water. I used my spatula to make little peaks in the water to give it a ripple effect.

This is the first time that I used fondant in this way and I was very happy with the results.
