Homemade Garden Party Birthday Cake and Cupcakes
My daughter's birthday is in April and she wanted to have a Spring Garden party theme. I had just bought the book, "Hello Cupcake" and was inspired by their butterfly and sunflower cupcakes. After making the cupcakes I decided to make an actual cake to go with them.
I used the same decorating techniques described in the book but put them on the cake instead of cupcakes and it all came together so much better then I expected. Using the techniques in the book the butterflies were pretty easy to make (but time consuming).
The antennae were a pain as they are very delicate and kept breaking. For added drama I put the cake up on a cake stand and then bought the vibrant fresh flowers to put under the cake.
