Gift Box Cake

Gift Box Cake

This was my first fondant cake. I wanted to do something special for my only niece's first birthday. My sister in law wanted something cute and girly. I must have looked at thousands of cakes online. I just combined different ideas of a gift box cake with my own.

The cake is a yellow cake with buttercream icing. I made the flowers the previous night and let them dry. My bow did not turn out quite the way I had hoped, but I now realize what I did wrong.

The cake was definitely a hit at the party! I had a ball making it and hope to make many more!

Trying to make a similar cake
by: Arlene

First of all I want to say you nailed that cake!!! My daughter is turning one in December and I want to make 2 tier cake similar to yours. My question is what cake recipe did you use, and what size cake pans were used? Can you e-mail me at arlene.rolan@gmail.com?

Thanks
Arlene

Question?
by: Anonymous

What kind of fondant did you use? Wilton Fondant or homemade fondant or rolled buttercream fondant?

Looks really good and I think your bow turned out just fine.

Great job! The colors are fantastic, and I am really impressed since it was your first time using fondant icing - well done :)
