Homemade Giraffe Cake
This Giraffe Cake was made by myself and my husband for our son's jungle safari theme first birthday party in the African plains in Dublin zoo. The cake was a masterpiece and took a long time to do. The frame is made of wire. The body of the giraffe is made of Swiss roll (for the shape) and the legs are rice crispie buns.
The entire wire structure was covered with foil and then fondant icing was covered and placed over the whole thing. Dark brown fondant pieces were stuck on with icing for the giraffe spots and the tail is rice paper.
The face is also fondant icing. The legs and body is edible so the kids ate the rice cripie legs and the body and the head still stand in his room on the wire stand.
