Coolest Golf Bag Cake

This golf bag cake was made using the Wilton Golf Bag Pan. It just came out this year and I’ve been waiting for a good reason to use it!

Everything is edible. The “leather” trim, golf tees, pencil, club cover, zippers, and the tag were all made from fondant. To get the silver look on the zippers, I tinted the fondant grey and brushed it with pearl luster dust. The chain for the tag is silver dragees attached to the cake with small dots of frosting (so they wouldn’t roll off the cake).

The golf balls were molded from white chocolate. There’s a little ladybug near the golf bag. That’s also made from chocolate – using a red candy writer (colored chocolate in a tube). The score card is edible wafer paper with edible ink. The grass and pom pom on the club cover are buttercream frosting piped on using a grass tip.

The grass and the golf bag were both frosted with buttercream frosting. The cake was a marble cake that I made from two different cake mixes. For some reason marble cake mix is hard to find in my area, so I made a butter cake and added devil’s food chocolate marbling.

This cake was made for a coworker’s son that loves to golf. The name of the golf course on the score card is a course near their home.
