This guitar 21st Birthday Cake was one of my biggest challenges. The birthday girl is guitar crazy and this was a fitting birthday cake. I tried to replicate one of her guitars and came very close. The construction was chocolate cake, one level, fondant covered. We made all the pieces from colored fondant.
The guitar neck is a chocolate fondant and I used pre colored fondant red as you cannot get this vibrant red if coloring it yourself. I had to make the cake across 2 cake boards and joined them at the party. l made it the join at the neck so that it was not obvious that the cake was in 2 pieces.
The pieces that make up the guitar were made in advance and placed on the cake the day of the party. The birthday girl loved her cake and it was a huge success with her friends .
