Homemade Guitar Birthday Cake

I wanted to make a Guitar Birthday Cake for my friend's birthday. I have never made a cake before. I decided to start with two large rectangular cakes. I tried to color the cake, the green came out the best. I free hand cut the shape of a guitar. Then I frosted it with sweet butter cream icing. I then rolled out white fondant and placed it over the entire top.

I then smoothed out the fondant and designed a flame template. I used a toothpick to embed the design into the fondant. I then removed the template and started painting with gel coloring. To make the frets I rolled toothpicks in tin foil, to make the knobs I covered rolos in tin foil, to make the parts for the strings I used kit kats, gum drops, and string.

I then used thick electrical cable from Home Depot for the cord to the amp. It was a blast to make the cake. My next cake will be a converse Chuck Taylor, and an Astros Jersey.
