Happy Sixteenth Birthday Guitar Cake
I made this guitar cake for a friend's daughter - she was celebrating her 16th Birthday. She was having a "rock-n-roll" themed birthday party and asked for a pink guitar shaped cake. I searched for pictures of guitar cakes on the internet and found a few that gave me some guidance.
I then decided to do this cake based off a guitar that my son had for a video game. The cake itself is white cake which I cut to the shape of the guitar and I made butter cream icing for decorating the cake and I just drew music notes on the board for decoration.
It really was not hard doing the entire cake in butter cream - I am not a big fan of using fondant. Making the strings were probably the hardest part of the cake. I covered a sheet of wood with a couple layers of aluminum foil and put the cake on it. This made it much easier to transport to the party location.
