Homemade Guitar Cake

This guitar cake was made to look like my husband's Dean ML guitar. I used 2 15x10 metal cake pans, each pan took 2 boxes of chocolate devils food cake mix.

After the cakes cooled I wrapped them in clear wrap and froze them overnight, it made them easier to cut. My husband was the one who cut them out, one cake was used for the body and one cake for the neck. I used dark chocolate frosting, it was very hard to get the color as black as I wanted it. I even used black food coloring. But it still turned out good.

I used dots candy for the nobs, they worked perfect. I displayed the cake on a large cardboard box covered in foil and wrote cute messages to my hubby. My 4 year old son loved this because I let him cover it in sprinkles.

The cake was a hit. This was my first time doing a creative cake and I'm excited to do more.
