Guitar Cake

I made this guitar cake for a lady I work with. Her nephew loves Guitar Hero! Once I actually figured out what Guitar Hero was, I started by preparing a 1/2 sheet cake. She requested chocolate.

I froze the cake overnight, just to make it a bit easier to handle. I cut the 1/2 sheet cake into the shape of the bottom of the guitar. I used the 2 left over blocks to extend the neck and the head. I used black icing for the sides, white for the top and grey for the neck and head.

I drew the flames on freehand with a toothpick then filled in the area with red, then orange then topped the flames off with yellow to give it a more depth. I piped everything else on with a round tip.

I was told that the birthday boy was really surprised and that the chocolate cake was delicious!!
