Homemade Handy Manny Tools Cake
I made this Handy Manny birthday cake for my son's 3rd Birthday. For this cake I focused on the tools. My son got the Handy Manny Toolbox with tools for Christmas.
I used the removable tools as my stencils for my cake. After cooling an 11x15 inch sheet cake, I iced the sides of the cake and traced each tool with edible markers (made by Wilton). Next I traced each tool (#3 round tip) with chocolate icing. Then I filled each tool in the appropriate colors (again #3 round tip) and smoothed the frosting by dipping my finger in water and gently patting.
Eyes were also done with frosting (same smoothing process, just layering the colors I needed). Next using a #16 star tip I filled in the top of cake. I just did lines because I was running short on time.
Lastly I used Wilton letters to say Happy 3rd Birthday and "Handy Manny" rings to decorate the corners of the cake. Last, with a #18 star tip, I made a chocolate boarder. I thought it turned out cute. Took me about 6 hours, but I've only made about 6 cakes in my life, so I'm sure those of you more seasoned cake decorators could complete faster.
Hope this helps those of you looking for Handy Manny ideas. I'm pleased with how it turned out especially since no Handy Manny cake pans exist to date.
