I hosted my son’s 9th Birthday with a full blown Harry Potter party complete with Quidditch Match and Great Hall Dining room. Desert was this Harry Potter Snitch Cake.
The base is chocolate cake I baked in a Bundt cake pan. The ball was made from a ball cake pan from Wilton – that was yellow cake. I covered it in Marzipan that I tinted yellow and then dusted in Gold dust. The feathers I spray painted gold.
It was a huge hit, and really not that difficult to do – and I am not a baker at all!!

I happened to be at this party and can tell you that the cake was a HUGE hit. Have you ever seen 9 year old boys excited about cake? Well, they were with this cake! It completed the party theme perfectly.
