Coolest Heart Shape Anniversay Cake

I was  asked by my niece to make this heart shape cake for her mother and father in law’s ruby anniversary. I had to make the cake topper first, I started by making the sofa and this was left for a few days to dry out before I made the people. I was given a picture of the two of them so I could match up the build and hair colors so it resembled them on the top of the cake.

I had to hire the cake tin from my local cake store. I hired a 10″ heart cake which I baked in vanilla sponge. This was filled with butter cream and jam. I then covered the whole cake in butter cream and then chilled in the freezer before covering in white fondant icing. I also covered the cake board at the same time. I then pipe iced around the base of the cake and when the icing hardened I attached the ribbon around the cake and attached the bow.

I now sat the sofa on the top of the cake and the started cutting out the red hearts in different sizes, and randomly attached to the cake using a little water I then cut out the wording and attached this to the cake board.

The cake was now finished, they loved it and I was so proud I’d made my first heart shape cake.
