My nephew wanted a Cobra Birthday cake this year. He is 7. I barely knew the difference between a prop plane and a jet when I was 7! Well, I didn’t feel capable of crafting a “helicopter” into a cake so I decided on an LZ . A Heliport landing zone complete with Control tower and American flag.
I used 2 cake mixes for each layer. I used the leftover from the second one and made two small loaf pan cakes, which I used for the control tower. I faked little people (artistic license) into the windows of the control tower, facing the heliport.
I used Wilton’s buttercream icing recipe with a little added cornstarch since the humidity is so high right now. After discussing it, we decided to purchase a remote control helicopter for the “copter” and wrapped the controller,charged and ready to go as the gift.
My nephew loved his Helicopter Birthday Cake.
