Homemade Hello Kitty Birthday Cake

My daughter is very much into Hello Kitty, so for her 5th birthday I decided to bake her a Hello Kitty birthday cake. Since she was having a party, the actual cake is a simple chocolate cake. I just had to quadruple the ingredients to get a decent size rectangular cake.

I covered the cake with simple glacè icing (coloured it pink) and when semi-soft I used liquorice rolls (rolled out) into strips to outline Hello Kitty. I then prepared butter icing (pink and white) and starting filling in the spaces. The liquorice actually helped me keep it all neat and tidy and this was the result.

The children went mad and they really liked it.
